Camino Frances - Sarria to Santiago - Day 6
Melide to Ribadiso
22.07.2024 - 22.07.2024 31 °C
12km, 25k steps
A beautiful day today, sunny warm and then hot this afternoon (14 degrees Celsius in the morning to 31 this afternoon). Not a cloud in the sky all day.
Leaving Melide
The route was described as "undulating"; a few tougher steep sections, causing some hip (me) and knee (Steve) pain, but we both recovered quickly and enjoyed the lovely scenery.
11am lunch en route in Boente where we were served a massive sandwich. We shared 1/2 of it, then ate the other 1/2 at 1:30 in Ribadiso.
We decided to try a municipal albergue and the one in Ribadiso Abiaxo is highly rated for amenities and cleanliness. The complex is huge, with several dorm blocks and a shower and laundry block.
There were a few benches in the shade, but the stone and tile kitchen was by far the coolest location, several degrees cooler than outside.
Our bunks are on the left with my chair and our hats hanging.
