Mirador de la Cañada del Lobo

sunny 18 °C

Looking for a longer walk (and practice for my upcoming trip to walk the 1014km of the South West Coast Path in the UK), I hiked up to the lookout (mirador) of the wolf's glen (Cañada del Lobo), about 2.5 hrs from our apartment. Because I have a 60-year-old bladder, I scoped out a café along the way for bottled water & a baños (Café Vani, located near the start of the path, just over an hour from my start), and very happy I did - no chance I could go 5 hours without a baños :)

The hike is all uphill - even walking via Benalmádena to the path's start from our apartment on the Torremolinos beach; however, it is relatively easy with the option of a paved road the whole way. I opted to avoid the dirt path, which seemed to meander across the road, but never venturing very far from the road, so I didn't see any advantage to scrambling up the scree-covered path on either side. I did not see any cars, but a few bikes - slogging on the way up, but very fast on the way down.

The views along the way were fantastic and the weather was quite warm in the sun, but it was very cold and windy at the top.
